A few months ago I looked in the mirror and realized something. The guy who had the six-pack abs and the beefed up chest in high school was disappearing under a layer of fat. I knew I had to make some changes and so I started working out again like I had done up until I was twenty-four or so. One of the things that I started doing to bulk up my muscles and get them to look amazing again was look into what protein powder was on the market these days. I wasn’t surprised by how many different brands and types there were now, but I was a little lost as to which one to try out. A good friend pointed me in the direction of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard and I wanted to write this review to help out anyone else who was in the same boat as me a few months ago.
Probably the first thing that you’ll notice if you’re looking for Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard on Amazon is that it is the number one selling whey protein powder of all of the ones that they have for sale (and there are quite a few). In fact, it is one of the top 60 products in the massive “Health and Personal Care” category, which is ridiculously amazing. The second thing that you’ll notice when you get to the product page is that you have a lot of options. For one thing, there are multiple sizes that you can choose from, with money discounted the bigger size you buy, and there are a huge number of flavors that this whey protein powder comes in.
1 lb. 2 lb. 5 lb. 8 lb. and 10 lb. There are a couple of specialty sizes as well that only apply to one or two different flavors. There are five basic sizes though and the higher weight you go the less you will pay per pound.
This is where you’re going to be impressed if you are anything like me. I’m used to protein powder being pretty much just one or two flavors, which can get pretty old quick, let me tell you. That’s why I knew I had to try the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard when I saw that there were 24 different flavors to choose from including strawberry, banana cream, cake batter, chocolate peanut butter, white chocolate, caramel toffee fudge and rocky road just to name a few.
The bottom line was that this was one of the greatest of all of the whey protein powders that I have tried. It was easy to mix, creating a perfect shake with nothing but a spoon and glass of milk. More importantly, the stuff works great. I started noticing results within just a few days of starting to take the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard. The only drawback that I have found is that I wish they offered a multi-pack of some kind so I could get multiple flavors and still get the 10-pound price savings.
